§ 1. Oath of office.

The mayor shall qualify by taking and subscribing to the oath of office prescribed by this section and by the Constitution of the State of Maryland before the clerk of the circuit court for Anne Arundel County. Each alderman and alderwoman, each other officer and each member of a commission, board or committee, before entering upon the duties of the respective office, shall take and subscribe before the mayor the following oath or affirmation:
"I, ___________, do swear (or affirm, as the case may be), that I will support the Constitution of the United States; and that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of Maryland, and support the Constitution and laws thereof; and that I will, to the best of my skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, execute the office of _______, according to the Constitution and Laws of this State and the Charter and Code of the City of Annapolis."
