§ 17.12.005. Purpose and definition.

A.

The purpose of this chapter is to protect the public health, safety and property and the general welfare of the community by establishing minimum standards for construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures.

B.

As used in this title, the term "Building Code" shall mean the applicable International or other building code adopted by the City as the particular circumstances may require unless otherwise expressly stated herein. The term "Building Code" as used in this title shall not be interpreted to refer solely to the code adopted in 17.12.010 unless the particular circumstances so require.
