§ 7.16.030. License—Classes and fees.

  • The following classes of licenses shall be issued by the City Clerk upon payment of the fee as established by resolution of the City Council:

    A.

    Class A licenses: carnivals (excluding carnivals operated by fraternal, religious or charitable organizations or volunteer fire companies);

    B.

    Class B licenses: circuses;

    C.

    Class C licenses: amusement devices. Class C licenses authorize the holder to have and operate any amusement device other than any device specified in this chapter for which a particular license is required;

    D.

    Class D licenses: arcade. Class D licenses shall be issued for single locations, rooms or buildings, in which are operated six or more class C, E, F, G, H, I, L, or M amusement devices, or any combination of these devices;

    E.

    Class E licenses: claw machines. One class E license is required for each claw machine or similar device offering merchandise or any other thing of value as an award or prize;

    F.

    Class F licenses: pinball games;

    G.

    Class G licenses: console games, spinner-type. Each class G license authorizes the operation of one device having a single coin head taking from one to nine coins at each operation, such as spinning reels, dominoes, skill time, etc. No class G license shall be issued for any bell-type game;

    H.

    Class H licenses: console games, spinner-type or bell-type, single coin chute. Class H licenses shall be issued to bona fide organizations, clubs or social groups, with established premises and bona fide membership rosters, that have been in existence and operating in that capacity for one year or more in the City;

    I.

    Class I licenses: console games, ball-type, single-coin-chute type, two or more coin chutes. Each class I license authorizes the operation of one device, such as super bell, three bells or any other console game operating on the revolving reel principle, except the so-called "one-arm bandit" type;

    J.

    Class J licenses: distributor's license. One class J license shall be required for each person distributing for operation, placing on location, or offering for rent or lease, any coin-operated machine for amusement or gaming;

    K.

    Class K licenses: one-arm bandit. It is unlawful to operate any device commonly known as the "one-arm bandit" except by charitable corporations or organizations authorized by law to operate them, and except by a class H license holder;

    L.

    Class L licenses: shuffleboards, bowlers, bowling tables, pool tables and similar games requiring a five-cent, ten-cent or twenty-five-cent coin for operation, in connection with which no prizes or awards, including free replays, are dispensed or given in any manner whatsoever;

    M.

    Class M licenses: electronic video games.
